The alumni of the department have also donated course related text and reference books. From time to time the college authority allots money for buying books. These books are of immense help not only for the teachers but also the students. The CBCS curriculum also includes a Skill Enhancement Course aimed at helping students to know what is manuscript, how to compose texts, how proof reading - translation works - script writing etc can be selected as future profession.
Every year Bengali department organizes different programs where both students and teachers participate actively. These programs are educational tours, lecture programs, wall magazine preparation, extempore speech competitions, reading competitions, college week rally, publishing departmental magazine , programs on sensitizing students for holistic development, such as visiting old age homes, orphanages etc. In such programs students participate actively which enhances participative & experiential learning.
