The founding of the college was driven by a holistic mission to provide higher education to the marginal student community who could not access the central/city colleges for various reasons. It was also an educational outreach for the students who lived beyond the city limits and the entire Northeast. The motto of the college-‘Tamaxu Maa Jyotirgomoi’(From ignorance to knowledge) -guides the vision and mission of the college by striving to transform it into a centre of excellence and by foregrounding knowledge as empowerment and an instrument for inculcating social responsibility.
