The VILLAGE ADOPTION AND EXTENSION CELL of the LCB College is constituted to identify and adopt nearby rural areas to improve their quality of life through educational, health, and infrastructural initiatives. Key duties include surveying needs, organizing awareness campaigns on sanitation and literacy, promoting skill development, and fostering student social responsibility. Core Duties of the Village Adoption Committee: 1. Village Selection & Survey: Identify a suitable, usually underprivileged, village and conduct baseline surveys to understand its specific needs regarding education, health, and economy. 2. Needs Assessment & Planning: Develop an annual action plan in collaboration with village leaders to address key challenges, often focusing on sustainable community growth. 3. Awareness Programs: Organize health and hygiene, sanitation, digital literacy, and social welfare awareness campaigns (e.g., gender equality, de-addiction). 4. Educational Support: Support education by providing learning materials to children, holding free tuition classes, and organizing school visits to the college campus. 5. Skill Development & Livelihood: Arrange training sessions for villagers via experts (e.g., farmers training on new technologies, horticulture) to improve livelihood. 6. Health and Sanitation Initiatives: Arrange health camps, doctor visits, and promote cleanliness drives. 7. Resource Coordination: Link the village with external agencies, government, or NGO initiatives to solve infrastructure or social issues. 8. Student Involvement: Facilitate student participation via NSS/NCC to foster empathy and provide research opportunities on rural issues. Examples of activities: (a) Tree Plantation & Environmental Awareness: Organizing Cleanliness Drives. (b) Educational Support: Awarding toppers from the adopted village and providing stationery to kids. (c) Developmental Projects: Implementing projects related to solar lighting, drinking water, and road maintenance.
