Departmental Profile :
The department of Mathematics which was established in the year 1995 has been offering both honours and general course right from the year of establishment. There are 3 dedicated faculty members of which all are Ph.D holders. The department of mathematics together with the departments of Economics and Statistics are also offering 2 value added courses for the 2nd and 4th semester students.
The dept also has its own mathematics lab equipped with 5 computers which have various software like Mathematica, C-programming, Latex and HTML installed.
The dept has organized study tours to various universities like Tezpur University and NEHU, Meghalaya.
One of the alumni has done M.sc from IIT G, one has qualified for the UGC-NET exam and many have cleared the TET exams. Many of them are working in various colleges and universities like Dibrugarh University, while some are working in the Assam Police and Fire Service Dept. One is also working in Huwaei Technology.
For extracurricular activities the students are encouraged to make a departmental Wall Magazine and also to celebrate the "National Mathematics Day" on 22nd Dec in a befitting manner. Talks on diverse subjects are also organized. The intake capacity of honours course is 35 seats/semester.
