The Department of Physics of Lalit Chandra Bharali College, Assam, India was established in 1995 and is affiliated under Gauhati University. The Department of Physics is actively involved in the research in the emerging areas of science. Since its inception the department of physics has provided both basic and application-oriented physics theory and practical courses for the undergraduate students for six semesters. The professors at the Department of Physics are adamant that while desire may be the source of motivation, it is commitment and determination to an unwavering pursuit of our objectives and excellence that allows us to succeed. Presently, only BSc (General) programme is offered by the department. Faculty members of the department have expertise in fields such as X-Ray Crystallography, Neural Networks etc. As pointed out by Robert A. Millikan that “Science walks forward on two feet, namely theory and experiment, but continuous progress is only made by use of both”, the Physics Department\'s faculty members are committed to and strive for excellence in both teaching and research. The department\'s main goal is to deliver high-quality physics education while developing talented students who will use academic endeavours to advance the boundaries of knowledge in physics and related fields. To fulfil this purpose, three holders of Prime Minister\'s Research Fellows(PMRF) pursuing PHD in IIT Guwahati are associated with this department to promote and enhance the skills of the students. Furthermore, the department in the future plans to introduce an ad-on course on the field “Understanding Basic Physics” to strengthen their stronghold in the foundation of Physics.
